NetBrilliant Beta Version Released to the Public
Friday, April 7, 2000 - The public beta-testing portion of NetBrilliant's development cycle began today. Registered beta testers are allowed to download a pre-release version of the code for evaluation and testing before the planned June release of the completed first version.
At the time of release, the beta team was comprised of over 300 users from 26 countries representing a wide range of software and hardware configurations, including all versions of Microsoft Windows from Windows 95 on. Beta team registration will be left open until the end of the beta testing period; the NetBrilliant development group has stated that it expects a jump in beta group membership immediately following the beta release due to publicity generated by MP3- and beta-enthusiast web sites.
"Beta team members have indicated that stability in this type of program is an absolute number one priority," said Christian Carrillo, head developer on the NetBrilliant project. "We hope this restricted-distribution beta period will strongly benefit our first version users in that area."
Tenebril is also fostering a strong connection between developers and users in order to shape future development on the product. Beta team members are encouraged to send feature suggestions as well as bug reports.
